Sony has today launched Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. The Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact are company’s first devices to feature 18:9 aspect ratio and a bezel-less display.
The Xperia XZ2 comes in Liquid Silver, Liquid Black, Deep Green, and Ash Pink colours while the Xperia XZ2 Compact comes in White Silver, Black, Moss Green, and Coral Pink colour variants. Both the smartphones will roll out globally starting in late March or early April. Pricing details have not been revealed by the company.
Sony Xperia XZ2
The Sony Xperia XZ2 features a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It features an internal storage of 64 GB. The phone also has two front-facing stereo speakers with S-Force Front Surround.
For the camera, the smartphone features a 19-megapixel rear camera that supports 4K HDR video and Super Slow-Motion capture at 960FPS. For the front, the device features a 5-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture camera for selfies and video chats. It is also world’s first smartphone with 4K HDR Movie recording and also offers ISO sensitivity 51200 for photos and ISO 12800 for video.
It runs on run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and is backed up by 3180mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities. On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers hybrid Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 5, GPS, USB 3.1 Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack and NFC. It has an IP65/68 rating for dust and water resistance. There is no 3.5mm audio jack present on the phone. The device measures 153 x 72 x 11.1 mm and weighs 198grams.
Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact
The Xperia XZ2 Compact is a cheaper and smaller version of the XZ2. It features a 5-inch display with Full HD+ display and resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by the same octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
It also runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system like Xperia XZ2 but has a smaller 2,870mAh battery without Qi wireless charging. The other specifications are the same as of Xperia XZ2 smartphone. It measures 135 x 65x 12.1 mm and weighs 168grams.
