Motorola India has started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for its Atrix 2 smartphones. Infact, some Motorola Atrix 2 owners claimed to have received the update over the air yesterday itself. Motorola has started pushing out the update as per the schedule and several Atrix 2 users are recommended to take a backup of the data on the smartphone before applying the update.
Motorola had launched the Atrix 2 smartphone in India in March this year for Rs 22,990. The Atrix 2 features a 4.3-inch LCD display with quarter HD (960×540) pixel resolution and packs a dual-core 1 GHz mobile processor inside. It has 8 GB on-board memory too.
The Android 4.0 ICS update pushed OTA update weighing about 260 MB for the Atrix 2 smartphone owners. Apparently, the update will bring new set of features and several performance improvements under the hood. However, the custom interface and icon used by Motorola might make the consumers think differently but over all there will be performance tweaks throughout the system. Most importantly, the Android 4.0 ICS update is expected to improve the battery life of the phone with more stable and consistent software performance.
The Atrix 2 smartphone owners should get the OTA update any time. Those who are yet to receive the update can go to Settings>About Phone>System Updates to check for the OTA update.
