Motorola has introduced two new mid-range Android smartphones – Defy XT and Defy Mini, in India. Sporting the water-resistant body, both these Defy series handsets come in candy bar form factor and feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 series processor. The Motorola Defy XT is a mid-range smartphone that will retail at the recommended price of Rs 16, 190 while the Defy Mini is the entry level Dual-SIM handset to retail at a recommended price of Rs 11, 490.
Perfectly suited for the Indian users and environments, both these handsets come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread running with the MotoSwitch 2.0 user interface. The new MotoSwitch 2.0 UI learns from the way user uses the phone and adapts to provide better options.
Motorola Defy Mini
Priced at Rs 11,490, this smartphone could be easily procured for street price of around Rs 10,000 roughly. The new Defy Mini is IP67 standard certified and comes with a water-resistant, scratch resistant and even dust proof design. Featuring a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with 320×480 pixel resolution, the Defy Mini has the panel made using Corning Gorilla Glass technology to provide enough strength to it.
Under the chassis lies an under-clocked 600 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7225A mobile processor with 512 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM out of which only 120 MB is accessible to the user. While Motorola has included a 2 GB memory card with the phone, one can add up to 32 GB memory card to it.
Triband cellular network supporting Defy Mini supports dual-SIM configuration and offers WiFi connectivity for faster internet. The Defy Mini features a modest 3 megapixel camera with flash at the back and thankfully there is a front facing camera for video calling. Other features of Defy Mini include Bluetooth 2.1, FM Radio with RDS, micro SD card slot, GPS, Assisted GPS and DLNA support.
Motorola has packed a 1650 mAh battery that promises talk time of up to 9 hours and up to 11 days of stand by time.
Motorola Defy XT
As the successor of the Defy+, the new Defy XT comes with IP67 Standard certification for being water resistant, scratch resistant and dust proof. The Defy XT features a 3.7-inch touchscreen display supporting 480×854 pixel resolution and constructed using the Corning Gorilla Glass technology for strength. Under the hood lies a single core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7227A mobile processor with 512 MB RAM and 1 GB ROM. At the back lies 5 megapixel cameras with auto focus as well as flash and there as front facing VGA camera for video chat. Even this smartphone will have 2 GB micro SD card include while one can add up to 32 GB memory card to it.
The Defy XT runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features the MotoSwitch 2.0 user interface. Other features include Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, GPS, Assisted-GPS, digital compass, and DLNA support. Motorola Defy XT features a 1650 mAh lithium polymer battery that promises up to 9.5 hours of talk time and up to 20 days of stand by time.
The Motorola Defy XT and Defy Mini will be made available across the country from June 20 onwards.
