LG launches world’s smallest wireless charger

This wireless charger will be compatible with all the smartphones that support the Qi Standard for wireless charging.

LG Electronics has announced the world’s smallest wireless charger with electromagnetic induction technology at the Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain. The new WCP-300 Wireless Charger is Qi certified and measures only 6.9cm in the diameter. This wireless charger will be compatible with all the smartphones that support the Qi Standard for wireless charging.

Palm has been offering TouchStone charger for its Pre smartphone two years ago and no one bothered doing anything similar. But now LG has finally announced a similar charger.

The new WCP-300 wireless charger integrates the electromagnetic induction technology and is Qi certified by the Wireless Power Consortium. When the inductive chip loaded smartphone is placed on the charger, electromagnetic induction produces magnetic field which generates electric current to charge the smartphone’s battery.

LG’s new WCP-300 wireless charger supports standard 5-pin charger and thereby offer greater user convenience. For the US region, the WCP-300 will arrive with built-in support for the LG Spectrum 2 and Google Nexus 4 smartphones. This support is right out of the box without having to purchase a separate covers to charge the devices.
