As of now, the update has just been rolled out in South Korea and users in Americas and Asia can expect the update in coming weeks.
Seems like LG is taking Android updates seriously with Android 7.0 Nougat now rolling out for LG G5. Launched in April this year, LG G5 first got the Nougat treatment back in August when the South Korean handset manufacturer selected 2000 G5 users to test the developer preview. Apart from this update, LG's V20 was the first smartphone to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the box which was a bit of surprise as every year Google releases the new Android version with its own Nexus (now Pixel) devices.
As of now, the update has just been rolled out in South Korea and users in Americas and Asia can expect the update in coming weeks. Not much information has been revealed up till now but we expect LG to include all the features from LG V20 in the latest update. That includes improved notification panel, multi-window support, Doze on the go etc.
"Getting software updates to our users faster than the competition is our way of demonstrating that LG is committed to supporting our products and customers to ensure they have a positive ownership experience," - quoted Senior Vice-President and Head of Research and Development at LG Mobile Kim Hyung-jung
Detailing out what LG G5smartphone has in store, the smartphone comes with a 5.3-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution and display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and runs the Android Marshmallow operating system. It measures at 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm and weighs at 159 grams. Underneath the hood, we get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, along with 4GB of RAM. It has 32 GB of internal memory which is expandable up-to 200 GB via microSD card. For photography, it features a 16 megapixel rear camera and an 8 megapixel front camera. The rear camera is armed with laser auto focus, OIS, LED flash, HDR, and it can record videos in 4K resolution at 30 fps. For connectivity, the phone offers WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), LTE, Bluetooth 4.2 A2DP, GPS with AGPS and GLONASS and BDS, NFC, Infrared port, and USB type c port. It has fingerprint sensor and will come in a dual SIM version as well. LG G5 comes with a modular concept and currently in India, a bunch of Mods are available for purchase. As for the price for just the device, LG G5 is available for around Rs 36,000 on Amazon India.
