Lava to launch Android ICS tablet for Rs 5K today

This is Lava's first tablet which is based on Android 4.0, 7 inch screen and lots of bundled content.

Lava Mobile will make its first 4.0 based tablet called E-Tab Z7H available from today evening. The tablet will be priced at Rs 5,899 but is expected to be available for Rs 5,500. Flipkart has already been taking the preorders for the tablet for the past one week.

Siddharth Saxena, chief marketing officer of Lava International told The Mobile Indian, “The tablet will become available from today evening. There is a lot exciting content that we are offering with this tablet as well as a very attractive bundled Tata Photon dongle.”

The device has a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen with 800 x 480 resolution. It has a 1.2 GHz processor coupled with 512 RAM and 4 internal memory. It only has a front facing VGA camera and support through dongle. There is a 2800 battery as well.

However, the big news here is the free content that will come bundled with this tablet. Lava is offering 14 books worth Rs 4,000 free from Tata Mcgraw Hill with this tablet. The books include Dhirubhai Ambani’s biography, APJ Abdul Kalam’s Ignited Minds as well as personality development books on topics like word power, preparation for interview etc.

Sidharth also told The Mobile Indian that it has a tie with Merit Nation to offer Vedic Maths module free of cost as well as Rs 750 discount on any content bought from Merit Nation. “We are also offering free content worth Rs 1250 from Hungama.com which can be streamed including 6 movies and a lot of music. Amir Khan starrer ‘Three Idiots’ is also preloaded on the tablet,” he added.

Lava has also tied up with Tata Photon (Tata Docomo) to offer Tata Photon+ dongle for Rs 750 which includes 6 GB data for the first month and Rs 100 discount on any unlimited pack every month for 12 month. Siddharth also said that the tablet has been tested with dongles from eight operators and all of them work fine on the tablet.

Sidhartha also informed us that they have put in a new touch optimisation technology, called ‘Flick’, to enhance eBook reading experience. They also developed a music player and aggregation that searched for free music and plays it and also plays any format of music. The app is however available for any Android user and is already listed on Google Play store.
