iBall’s Slide tablet to get Android 4.0 soon

If the update indeed comes as promised, iBall Slide will become the first tablet from an Indian brand to receive an operating system update.

Indian mobile phone manufacturer, iBall, which has recently announced an upgraded version of its Slide tablet, iBall Slide i7218, is busy preparing 4.0 update for the tablet and will release it shortly.

A spokesperson of the company has confirmed this to ‘The Mobile Indian’. If the update indeed comes as promised, iBall Slide will become the first tablet from an Indian brand to receive an Android operating system update on an existing model. Other tablets like Beetel Magiq, Mercury mTab, HCL MeTab X1, Intex iTab have not got any update till date instead have have launched new models with the updated operating system.

The older tablet, iBall Slide for which the upgrade will be made available, comes with an 8 built-in storage capacity which is expandable upto 32 GB. Other features of the tablet include WiFi, and support through dongle. It has HDMI port for easy connectivity to TV or the projector. The company has also revised the price slightly and the new tablet will now sell at Rs 11,999.

Two days ago, iBall had announced an upgraded version of the Slide tablet, iBall Slide i7218, with features like full port, front facing VGA camera along with a 2 rear camera and dual speakers for better sound quality. All other features remain the same in both the older and new Slide tablet.
