Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Honor 20, View 20 and more start receiving Android 10 update

Huawei and Honor has started rolling out Android 10 update to its range of smartphones globally.

Update: Honor has started rolling out Magic UI 3.0, which is based on 10, for Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro and Honor View 20 in India.

Huawei has started rolling out Android 10 update to its flagship smartphones. The brand has started rolling out Android 10 update, which is based on EMUI 10. Huawei’s sub-brand, Honor, has also reportedly started rolling out Android 10 update to its range of smartphones. The company has rolled Magic UI 3.0 update.

To start with Huawei smartphones, the company has started rolling out the update to Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, P30 and P30 Pro. Similarly, Honor has started rolling out Android 10 update to Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro and Honor View 20. Both companies are currently rolling out the update in Europe and China, though it is not when it will reach the Indian market. Users can check for the latest updates by going to Settings > System > Software update > Check for Updates.

The Magic UI 3.0 comes loaded with a new magazine layout design for the enhanced reading experience. It features bigger title area, white spacing, grid system and highlight elements. he Settings icon has been changed to a larger rounded icon, which looks modern and simple.

The company has also introduced a new design for a drop-down menu with Magic UI 3.0. Swipe down once and users will get the functions that are primary for everyday use, swipe down twice, the users will be able to have access to all the functions on the menu. It also features large fonts and when the user drag the slide bar, the changes are displayed in large fonts while other interface elements get hidden, making adjustment and settings more intuitive, focused and clear.

The user interface also comes loaded with system-wide Dark mode along with sense-activated animation effects. For example, Honor has applied the elastic spring effect to touch operations resulting in more fluid feedback from the operations when the user touches an icon or button. In terms of video recording, Magic UI 3.0 features a brand-new Horizontal level, which users can use to record videos. Simply go to ‘Setting’, then tap on ‘Video’, and select ‘Setting’ to activate this feature.

The Magic UI 3.0 also comes loaded with new Deterministic Engine. By defining the QoS level and deadline of every system task, the operating system will manage tasks based on the level of QoS priority and deadlines to allocate CPU, GPU, memory, baseband, Wi-Fi, and other resources. This helps to decrease response latency by 25.7 per cent and latency fluctuation by 55.6 per cent.

Coming to key features of EMUI 10, it now comes with rounded UI icons, new animations and a multi-screen UI. EMUI will offer large texts and grid arranged many with large blank spaces for users to move through. Huawei claims that EMUI 10 will offer a 60 per cent boost when using Turbo.

Huawei has integrated the software inside the new HiCar UI which will be enabled by 30 automobile makers on 120 car models. HiCar will allow users to check the car status, switch on the AC, access car’s camera, play music and navigate. The latest Huawei software will allow native interconnection between smartphones and PCs. As for the design, EMUI will offer large texts and grid arranged many with large blank spaces for users to move through, similar to Samsung’s One UI.
