HTC U with touch-sensitive frame, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 to launch in April: Report

The device is expected to boast touch-sensitive frame, which lets users control different actions with gestures like swiping along its left and right sides

We reported earlier that HTC will be launching three smartphones during Q1 2017 and the company has already launched two smartphones, HTC U Play and U Ultra, recently, it is now time for the third device. If a recent report is to be believed then the company might launch the third device, codenamed as HTC Ocean or simply HTC U, in April.

According to a report by VentureBeat, the smartphone will be a flagship device and will come loaded with some top-of-the-line features. The device is expected to boast touch-sensitive frame known as Sense, which lets users control different actions with gestures like swiping along its left and right sides.

As for specifications is concerned, the device will be company’s true flagship device with 5.5-inch WQHD display with a screen of 2560 x 1440 pixels. HTC U will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and will compete against the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium. The phone is expected to come loaded with a `12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX362 sensor, while the front will sport a 16-megapixel shooter with Sony IMX351 sensor.

As for the internal storage is concerned, the device will either boasts a 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, with an option of expanding storage via card slot. The device will run on the latest Sense 9, which will based on Nougat. The company is expected to unveil the device in mid or late April, followed by a global retail release in May.
