The technology giant, HP(Hewlett Packard) has introduced a new pocket size photo printer, HP Sprocket. Itlets the user print photos from their smartphones wirelessly through a Bluetooth. Priced at Rs 8,999 it is available on Amazon India and HP’s official website.
HP Sprocket connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth, and prints photograph sized at 2×3 inches. To initiate the printing process one has to download the HP Sprocket app. It is available both on Google Play Store and App Store. Apart from printing pictures which are stored in the gallery app one can also print snaps from social media account as well.The device uses Zink technology to print photographs.
The company claims that Zink photo paper delivers colourful, smudge-proof, Water-resistant and tear-resistant photos without ink or toner cartridges as all the colour required for printing are embedded in the Zink photo paper itself. The Zink photo paper costs Rs 539 for a pack of 20 and Rs 1249 for a pack of 50. A pack of 10 is included in the box when one buys the printer.

The HP Sprocket app allows users to add borders and filters to their photographs. The print outs can also be used as a sticker, with its paper’s peel and stick backing property.
“Smartphones have become the default device for taking pictures. But people don’t go to photo stores now to take prints and eventually, one forgets about those pictures from holidays or birthday parties,” said Raj Kumar Rishi, Senior Director (Print Business), HP India. He added, “A physical picture, however, brings back memories even after years whenever one looks at them.”
