Honor View 20 update brings video calling support

The update comes in the form of Magic UI version 2.0.1 and brings two new additions to the Honor View 20. Firstly, the latest update adds a ViLTE feature to the device. For those of you who don’t know, ViLTE or Video over LTE allows you to make video calls through an LTE network without needing calling apps.

It’s been a month since Honor unveiled its Honor View 20 smartphone in India 48-megapixel rear camera for Rs 37,999. The device had already been seeded with an update in the next two days with a 48MP AI Ultra Clarity Mode and January security patch but Honor has now started rolling out a second update to the View 20.

The update comes in the form of EMUI version 9.0.1.129 and Magic version 2.0.1 and brings two new additions to the Honor View 20. Firstly, the latest update adds a ViLTE feature to the device. For those of you who don’t know, ViLTE or Video over allows you to make video calls through an LTE network without needing calling apps like WhatsApp or Google Duo.

In addition to that, the update also improves the integrated electronic image stabilisation (EIS) inside the camera. Honor says it has improved the “filming smoothness” when recording videos. The camera also gets benefitted with natural colours when shooting through the from the main camera. Additionally, the update brings the latest February 2019 batch of security updates and also enhanced touchscreen sensitivity.

To recall, the Honor View 20 comes loaded with a 6.4-inch Full All-View display with a 2310 x 1080 pixels resolution, 91.82 per cent screen-to-body ratio, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 382ppi pixel density. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Kirin 980 processor with 720 ARM Mali-G76MP10 GPU. It also features a circular fingerprint sensor at the rear.

The major highlight of the smartphone is the new punch-hole design and 48-megapixel rear camera. Starting with the camera first, it is loaded with 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 960fps slow-motion video recording support, autofocus, AI HDR, and LED flash support. There’s a secondary 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor for 3D applications and mapping of objects. The phone features an AI-powered 25-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 and fixed focus support.

The Honor View 20 is priced at Rs 37,999 for the 6GB and 128GB storage option, while the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant is priced at Rs 45,999. The phone will be available in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue colour options.
