Honor View 20 announced with world’s first 48MP smartphone camera

The Honor View 20 device will incorporate Sony’s latest 48MP IMX586 sensor which will deliver top quality images with more and better details even when zoomed in. The camera will be the first to make possible high-definition 48 effective megapixels photography and is coupled with AI and a dedicated dual NPU.

Huawei sub-brand Honor has announced the existence of the Honor View 20 smartphone which comes with three ground-breaking world-first technologies. The next generation Honor flagship will feature the world’s first 48MP camera for primary imaging as well as an Honor All-View Display and Honor Link Turbo.

Honor has revealed that the upcoming View 20 device will incorporate Sony’s latest 48MP IMX586 sensor which will deliver top quality images with more and better details even when zoomed in. The camera will be the first to make possible high-definition 48 effective megapixels photography. That coupled with and a dedicated dual NPU will offer multi-frame image processing for clicking multiple well-detailed pictures simultaneously.

The Honor View 20 will be powered by Huawei’s latest Kirin 980 chipset with dual-ISP and dual-NPU technology for better AI computing and graphics processing power. This will render help when clicking multiple photos taken from the 48MP camera which will be used to create a 48MP AI high-definition image.

The Kirin 980 chipset is the world’s first based on the 7nm process,delivering 20percent improved performance and 40percentimproved efficiency. It features an octa-core chipset with two ARM Cortex A76 high-performance cores clocked at 2.6Ghz, two ARM Cortex A76 cores clocked up to 1.92 GHz and four ARM Cortex A55 cores clocked up to 1.8Ghz for power efficiency.

Honor will also introduce the latest All-View Display which is the first in the world to bring an in-screen front camera design. The technology as Honor says has been achieved through complex 18-layer technology stack that embeds the front camera in the display area, thus extending the display area to almost 100 percent.

Honor has also introduced the Link Turbo technology which leverages AI to analyse users’ usage models and network conditions to switch seamlessly between or networks. This will in turn boost downloading speed by simultaneously adopting both networks.
