Honor 8 will not receive Android Oreo update

Honor confirmed this news on company's official Twitter handle.

We earlier reported that Honor is planning to update its flagship devices, the Honor 8 and Honor 8 Pro. But it seems that the company has failed to keep its promise as the brand has confirmed that Honor 8 will not receive the latest update.

Honor confirmed this news on company’s official Twitter handle. The tweet reads, “we can understand your concern. However, we regret to inform you that Honor 8 is not compatible for Android Oreo update due to hardware and software limitations. We always work for our customers and we are really glad to have you as an Honor customer. Inconvenience is regretted.”

The company says that due hardware and software limitations, the Honor 8 will not receive the Android Oreo update. However, this raises many eyebrows: how a phone like Honor 8 is limited in hardware specs, when phone like Nokia 2, which come with bare minimum specifications, will directly receive Android 8.1 Oreo update. Honor 8 was probably one of the most popular smartphones from Honor, which got some really good reviews both from the press and consumers. But it seems that Honor has finally forgotten its 2016 flagship device.

To recollect some key specs, the Honor 8 comes with a 5.2-inch full (1920 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display. The 2.3GHz octa-core Kirin 950 processor, powers this phone and has the backing of Mali T880-MP4 and 4GB RAM. Besides, 32GB of internal storage, the Honor 8 comes with an optional storage for up to a 128GB micro SD card. The smartphone gets its strength from a 3000 mAh battery with support.

The Honor 8 bears a dual rear camera set up – both the cameras are of 12 resolution. A dual-tone flash light is in the back too. The primary rear camera has f/2.2 and Laser AF. In the front, an 8-megapixel shooter with f/2.4 aperture has been provided for selfies.

It has port and an sensor as well. Besides, the smartphone has a Hybrid Dual SIM tray, LTE, WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), 4.2, GPS, and NFC. The handset measures 145.5 x 71 x 7.45 mm and weighs 153 grams.
