In February 2018, HMD Global announced the new 8110 4G feature phone during the Mobile World Congress which was later on launched in India in October for a price of Rs 5,999. The feature phone is currently getting additional support for WhatsApp which can be installed through the Nokia Store app on the Nokia 8110 4G phone.
The Nokia 8110 4G feature phone can now run WhatsApp after getting support for Google Search, Assistant, Google Maps and Facebook prior to this. This is possible because the Nokia device runs on KaiOS smart feature OS which brings several functionalities of a smartphone to a feature phone.
However, the Nokia 8110 4G is not the first feature phone to run WhatsApp as Reliance Jio’s popular feature phone series JioPhone received support for WhatsApp last year. It’s also worth mentioning that even the JioPhone series runs on KaiOS with similar features built-in.
WhatsApp on Nokia 8110 4G will allow users to send and receive texts, photos and videos with the new app and it will be end-to-end encrypted. One can also record and send voice messages with a couple of taps on the keypad. Users will need to verify their phone number and then they can begin chatting with other WhatsApp users one-on-one or in groups.
The Nokia 8110 4G comes equipped with Google Assistant. It is also loaded with apps like Facebook, Twitter and more. One can also share the 4G data connection with hotspot. The phone will be available in Banana Yellow colour option and comes with a revamped version of the Classic Snake game.
The phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA curved display. It is powered by Qualcomm 205 mobile platform along with 512MB of LPDDR3 RAM and 4GB of storage. The Nokia 8110 feature phone comes loaded with a 2-megapixel rear camera and it features 1500mAh battery. Apart from this, it features WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, micro USB, 3.5mm audio jack and micro SIM slot.
