Google’s Magic Eraser is not a Pixel-exclusive anymore, now expanding to Google One subscribers

Google has announced that its Magic Eraser tool in Google Photos, which was earlier limited to a set of Pixel devices, will now be available widely.

Highlights

  • Google has announced that Magic Eraser will now have a wider availability
  • Google also announced HDF effect for videos in Google Photos
  • Google Photos’ collage editor is also getting improvements

Google has announced new features that are arriving in its Google Photos and has also revealed that its Magic Eraser tool is no more a Pixel exclusive feature. The Magic Eraser tool is now expanding to all Google One subscribers on both devices (including Pixel phones) and ones.

Google made the announcement via a blog post where it wrote that “Starting today, Google One members — on both Android and iOS — and all Pixel users will be able to enjoy Magic Eraser, a new HDR video effect and exclusive collage styles”. For those unaware, Google’s Magic Eraser detects distractions in your photos, like photobombers or power lines, so you can remove them in just a few taps.

Earlier, this feature was limited to Pixel 6 series devices and above but now, all Google One members will be able to take advantage of the feature, be it on Android or iOS. You can also circle or brush other things you want to erase and Magic Eraser will make them disappear. Plus, Camouflage in Magic Eraser can change the colour of objects in your photo to help them blend in naturally with the rest of the photo.

Next, there’s a new HDR effect for videos. You can already use the HDR effect on photos to help balance dark foregrounds and bright backgrounds (or vice versa). Now, the HDR effect also lets you enhance the brightness and contrast across your videos.

In addition, Google has added new and exclusive collage editor designs to Google Photos. First, all Google Photos users can now apply Styles to a single photo in the collage editor. Second, a range of new Styles are coming to the collage editor for Google One members and Pixel users.
