Google Assistant is now available for iOS users in India. The virtual assistant, which was only available on select Android smartphones in the country, will now be available on iPhones, iPads and iPad Nano. Further, Google Assistant will be available in France, Germany, and UK as well.
The company states Assistant will work on Apple devices running iOS 9.1 and above.Google Assistant can do a bunch of tasks like make calls, send text messages, set calendar events, play music via Apple music or YouTube, navigate places, weather information and more, the only task which was not performed by Google Assistant was setting an Alarm.
However, one cannot assign Google Assistant to the Home Button as his/her primary virtual assistant and replace Siri. For this, Google has provided a widget which makes it easier to access Google Assistant, though it is not as easy as it is to access Siri.
Currently, Google Assistant supports languages such as English, French, German, Japanese and Portuguese. It is expected that company will support Italian, Korean and Spanish in upcoming updates by the end of the year. For the unintended, Google Assistant is a virtual personal assistant developed by Google and it was announced for Android devices during its annual developer conference in May 2016. Later on, during Google I/O 2017 event, Google introduced the virtual assistant for iOS devices.
