Gionee has rolled out new Over the Air (OTA) update for its S6 smartphone in India. The OTA update brings new value added features and update, the key update being ViLTE support (Video over LTE), it’s an extension of VoLTE, which enhances voice services with a high-quality video channel. ViLTE is a conversational (i.e. person to person) video service based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core network.
Other features include the addition of BeautyPlus App and an update of Mood wallpaper, G-Store, Theme Park, UC Browser, Truecaller and GMS. Further, the update fixes minor bugs and improves the performance of the device.
To recollect, Gionee S6 was launched in India last year at Rs 19,999. The 4G enabled Gionee Elife S6 comes in full metal body and features a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED Display that has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and high definition (1280×720 pixels) resolution. The Elife S6, which measures 151.9×74.6×6.9mm, is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and offers a customised interface called Amigo 3.1. The Elife S6 is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa core processor and 3 GB RAM.
There is 32 GB of internal storage space in Gionee Elife S6 and you can expand it through a micro SD card by up to 128 GB. This dual SIM smartphone has a 13 Megapixel rear camera in its rear panel that is supported by an LED flash light while a 5-megapixel camera is in its front. The rear camera can capture full HD and GIF videos. It has also HDR, Panorama, Professional mode, Geo tagging, Face Beauty and Ultra Pixel modes.
Other than that the Gionee Elife S6 has Proximity Sensor, G-Sensor, E-Compass, Motion Sensor, Light Sensor, and Gyro sensors. It has a 3150 mAh battery which, as per the company, offers up to 18 hours of 3G talktime. The Elife S6 comes in golden, silver and rose gold colours.
