German brand Blaupunkt enters mobile accessories market in India

The brand will be launched through an exclusive licensing agreement by New Delhi based Vidur and Co.

German-based consumer lifestyle and technology brand, Blaupunkt has announced its entry into Indian mobile accessories market with future plans to introduce smartphones, smart watches and phablets in Indian and SAARC markets such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal. The brand will be launched through an exclusive licensing agreement by New Delhi based Vidur and Co.

The accessories that Blaupunkt is planning to release include wire earphones, earphones, wired headphones, power banks, data and charging cables, car chargers, wall-mount chargers, wireless charging dock etc. Moreover, the brand will also operate its own dedicated after-sales customer service center in India for all its accessories.

Andrzej Cebrat, managing director, GIP Development / Blaupunkt, said, “India represents one of the fastest-growing mobile phone markets in the world today, having crossed a milestone of 1 billion mobile users this year. Beyond the numbers, Indian smartphone consumers are spending never-before time with their smartphones, fuelling demand for mobile accessories such as power supplies, earphones and data cables. We are excited to be present in this dynamic market. After the launch in India we are looking at entering other SAARC markets in the smart phones, smartwatches and phabletscategories through our partnership with Vidur & Co.”

This partnership and initiative from Blaupunkt has come to light after an extensive research to understand the current consumer pain points and the need gaps of the local customers during the use of mobile accessories. The products sold here have been customized for performance under Indian condition with adequate durability and quality. For example, select models of earphones have special duress-resistant wires, which significantly increases their life and brings down the wear and tear.

According to Madhur Madhav, director, Vidur & Co, “The increase in data usage on handheld devices and smartphones has ushered in a new revolution in the mobile phone accessories category. We believe that as more consumers spend in double and triple digits on buying more sophisticated smartphones in India, the market is now ripe to introduce international, high quality, branded mobile accessories here. We are excited to partner with Blaupunkt and introduce Blaupunkt products in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka besides India. We want to introduce the mobile phones industries in these markets to German quality and excellence.”

Coming to the products, the charging cables from Blaupunkt are certified by Apple as well as from certification bodies like UL and RoHS. The cables claimed to provide high data transmission and tangle free experience because of the high quality 1M braided cable. Even the connectors have unique grip design. The smart car chargers offer international patent design and knows when the device requires charge and when it is full. These can also perform life-saving functions in emergency situations such as cutting belts or breaking the windshields. The chargers have been certified by International certification bodies (FCC Declaration of Conformity, CE Marking or European Conformity and RoHS Compliance Certified).

The earphone series have also been certified by the above mentioned bodies and comes in various color variants. Blaupunkt claims that the design on these earphones offers best of stereo sound and bass experience. The wires on some of the earphones are extremely durable with duress-resistant wire built.
