Free WiFi for Simmtronics XPad users

Users of Simmtronics's XPad, which is available for Rs 4,600, can access WiFi for free at over 5000 locations all over India

Simmtronics, a tablet manufacturer based in India, has announced that the users of its 7 inch display bearing Xpad tablet can now enjoy free WiFi at over 5000 locations across the country. For the, it has joined hands with Ozone, a WiFi hotspot provider, that offers WiFi hotspots across India in locations like shops and cafes, educational institutions, hotels, malls and airports etc.

These hotspots offer internet with a speed of 2 and is available all the time.

The Simmtronics Xpad user can access free WiFi in stores like McDonald, Subway, Café Coffee Day, Manchester United, Nirulas, Cocoberry etc by just registering with a scratch card provided by Simmtronics along with the XPAD Tablet.

Indrajit Sabharwal, managing director, Simmtronics said, “Simmtronics Xpad, after major success in Middle East and GCC, has recently been launched in Indian retail market. Keeping in mind consumers need to stay connected everywhere and all the time we have exclusively tied up for these services. They need to access content and participate in social and commercial interactions on the go. We have made this facility only for our Xpad users by providing Public WiFi service which is available at all major outlets.”

Simmtronics recently launched its first tablet PC in India with Xpad X-720. The tablet comes with 4.0 and 7 inch capacitive touch display with 480×800 resolution.

It is a WiFi only tablet but offer dongle connectivity for 3G. Xpad X720 runs on a 1 GHz Cortex A8 and also offers gravity and sensors.

The tablet has 512 of DDR3 RAM, 4 and micro SD card support of up to 32 GB. There is a front facing VGA camera as well, however there is no rear camera. The tablet utilises 2800 battery.

The tablet is priced at Rs 4,600 and with this new offer, it becomes all the more attractive. However, since these WiFi hotspots are concentrated in major cities only, the offer is only attractive to metro city based users.
