Disappointment for OnePlus 2 users, Android 7.0 Nougat ruled out

OnePlus 2 was launched back in year 2015 with OxygenOS 3.0 which is based on Android Lollipop operating system.

Bad news for OnePlus 2 smartphone owners who were waiting for Android Nougat in their devices. As per a report of Android Authority, the company has recently confirmed that Android Nougat will not be released to OnePlus 2.

OnePlus also said that the company’s customer service has been informing consumers for a while now that Android 7.0 Nougat will not be coming to the OnePlus 2. The report revealed that the company stated: “customer service has been telling customers this for a little while” and that “we’re happy about what we’re doing with the software. We already confirmed Android O will come for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. So [no Nougat for the OnePlus 2] isn’t new and we think people were aware of it.”

Furthermore, the company said “when we built the OnePlus 2 we didn’t have the software infrastructure team in place we do now” as a reason behind not rolling update for the OnePlus 2

To recall, OnePlus 2 was launched back in the year 2015 with OxygenOS 3.0 which is based on Android Lollipop operating system and OnePlus promised in the past to update its devices for at least 24 months after release. The smartphone was last year updated to Android Marshmallow operating system. In the last 2 years, it received quite a few updates from the company, but Android 7.0 Nougat will not be rolled on to the OnePlus 2.

The OnePlus 2 offers a 5.5 inch full HD (1080×1920 pixel) IPS display. It is powered by Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, Adreno 430 graphics processor and 4 GB RAM. This 175 grams heavy smartphone measures 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.85 mm. The OnePlus 2 has a 13-megapixel rear camera and there are two LED flashlights in its back. For selfies, it offers a 5-megapixel front camera. This dual SIM smartphone offers 4G, dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, fingerprint sensor and GPS with GLONASS.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau recently announced that the company’s OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones will be updated to Android O operating system. So, the update will roll out to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users either later this year or early next year.
