Devices launched this week (Sept 12-18)

This was one of the rarest weeks when leading Indian device makers like Micromax and Lava did not announce any new smartphone.

This was not totally the quietest week in the Indian smartphone market but it certainly was one of the rarest weeks when leading Indian device makers like Micromax and Lava were conspicuously absent. The Indian companies are perhaps getting ready for the busy festival season ahead.

But the void was filled by other companies nonetheless. So let’s check out the devices which were launched earlier this week.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro

It will be available in stores starting 26th September, for Rs 32,490. The smartphone comes in Gold, Black and White color options.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro has a Glass and Metal design. It features a 6-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The smartphone is equipped with a 1.8 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor and 4 GB RAM. The Galaxy A9 Pro offers 32GB of internal storage and an expandable memory up-to 256GB via micro SD card. The phone runs on 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

It is backed by a 5,000 battery, which claims to offer of upto 22.5 days, talk-time of upto 32.5 hours, and video playback time of upto 26 hours. The battery comes with fast-charging feature, which claims to charge the battery from 0 to 100% in 160 minutes, and in mere 30 minutes it claims to charge the battery to upto 32%.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro has a 16-megapixel camera with f1.9 aperture, OIS and LED flash in its rear panel, while an 8-megapixel camera with f1.9 is in its front. The smartphone also offers a fingerprint scanner. The device measures 161.7 x 80.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs 210 grams. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G-LTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, a port, Samsung KNOX, S-Voice, Screen Mirroring, Accelerometer, Fingerprint Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Hall Sensor, Light Sensor, and Proximity Sensor.

Lenovo A6600, A6600 Plus and A7700

Lenovo announced the above three smartphones with Reliance Jio’s preview offer. Both Lenovo A6600 and A6600 Plus come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, 64-bit MediaTek 6735p quad-core processor clocked at 1.0GHz, 16GB internal storage and are backed by 2300 mAh battery. They have 5-inch HD screen, 8MP rear facing camera with LED flash and 2 front camera. The A6600 has 1 GB RAM while A6600 Plus has 2 GB RAM. Both the devices will be available by mid-September in matte white and matte black colour variants at Rs 6,999.

On the other hand, Lenovo A7700 sports a 5.5 inch HD screen. Inside it there is a 1.0GHz quad-core MediaTek 6735p processor which is coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. It also features an 8MP rear facing camera with dual LED flash and dual rear facing speakers with Waves Maxxaudio effect. Backed by a 2900 mAh battery, the device runs on Android 6.0 out of the box. The A7700 will be available by September end in matte white and matte black colour variants at Rs 8,540.

Videocon Cube 3

The smartphone is priced at Rs 8,490 and will be available via retail stores across the country.

As far as tech specs are concerned, the Videocon Cube 3 features a 5-inch HD (720p) 2.5D curved glass display with of 294ppi. It is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor along with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone comes packed with a 3000 mAh battery with 20% faster charging.

The Cube 3 comes with 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable via micro SD card. On the camera front, it has a 13-megapixel snappper with dual-LED flash and PDAF on its back, and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with LED flash on the front panel. The smartphone runs on runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, with VoLTE, WiFi (802.11b/g/n), 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, a micro USB port, G-sensor, Light Sensor, Gesture control, and Dual Whatsapp.

Zopo Color F1

Earlier this week, Zopo announced the launch of Color F1 in India at Rs 8,890.

The Android Marshmallow based smartphone comes with a Fingerprint scanner which allows users to control the device’s camera, gallery, and other significant features.

The Color F1 comes with a 2.5D Curved Glass, front and back LED Flash, 5.5” HD IPS Screen, MT6580 Quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB Storage, 8MP auto focus rear camera, a 2MP front camera, and a 2300 mAh battery.

According to the company, the Color F1 has some special features like supporting two social accounts. In a press release, Zopo explained, “Support two accounts simultaneously with this feature by cloning your favorite apps within your Color F1 (Parallel Space App included). Create balance in both your work and personal life with an option to have 2 social media accounts on the same app.”

The phone has an integrated video player that allows you to watch your favorite videos without any interruption. This feature enables videos to ‘float’ on top of another app, while still allowing access to them.

iBall Slide Cuboid

Priced at Rs 8,999, this tablet comes with an 8-inch (1280*800p) display with pixel density of 188.68 ppi. It is powered by a quad-core 1.0GHz ARM Cortex A53 64bit processor, which is paired with Mali 400 MP GPU. The tablet comes with 2GB RAM, and 16GB built-in storage, which is further expandable up-to 32GB via a micro SD card.

The Slide Cuboid tablet runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. It is backed up by a 4500 mAh battery, which claims to offer 840 minutes of calling on network, 1800 minutes of audio and 300 minutes of video playback.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Zen Admire Star has a 4.5 inch FWVGA screen. It has a 1.3 GHZ quad core processor, 512 RAM, 8GB and 32 GB of expandable storage slot. The phone offers a 5 megapixel primary camera and a 1.3 megapixel secondary front camera.

The Admire Star is equipped with a 2000 mAh battery and comes with dual SIM slot using which you can access 3G. It has music and video players as well as FM radio for entertainment while for connectivity, the handset offers Bluetooth and WiFi. Proximity and gyro are there as well.

The Zen Admire Star is available at Rs 3,290.

Fitbit Alta, Blaze

Fitbit launched new versions of Alta and Blaze fitness bands that include a Special Edition Gold series plus other premium textures and finishes. The Alta Special Edition Gold Series, which is priced at Rs 14,999, features a hand-polished shiny tracker available with a black or pink classic fitness band. You can wear it as jewellery with the new Alta Luxe Metal Bangle that comes in shiny gold-plated stainless steel and will be available at Rs 12,499.
