Devices launched last week

Last week China's Phicomm entered India while Intex, Micromax, Panasonic, Videocon, and HTC expanded their portfolio.

We have had another busy week at The Mobile Indian. Phicomm, a new brand from China entered India with P660, a promising phone, while Intex added to their impressive portfolio. Micromax added a tablet and a phone to their vast line-up, while Panasonic, Videocon, and HTC added one device each. Read on to find out about the launches of the week.

Micromax Canvas A1 – Rs 6,039

Armed with a 4.5 inch IPS with a of 480 x 854 pixels, the Micromax Canvas A1 is Micromax’s latest launch. Running on Lollipop (5.1), the phone has a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, with 1 GB of RAM. The internal memory stands at 8 GB, to which another 32 GB can be added via a microSD card.

The primary camera of the phone is a 5 megapixel unit with autofocus, face detection, flash, and video recording at 1080p. In the front of the Micromax Canvas A1 there is a 2 megapixel camera. The Micromax Canvas A1 is a dual-SIM phone with 3G, GPS, WiFi, and for connectivity. The 1700 battery can provide up to 6 hours of or 160 hours of standby.

Intex Aqua 3G Pro – Rs 3,666

The Intex Aqua 3G Pro has a 4 inch TFT display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The phone runs on Android KitKat and has a 1 GHz processor, with 512 of RAM. The internal memory stands at 4GB, to which you can add another 32 GB via a microSD card.

The primary camera is a 2 megapixel unit, with a shooter on the front. The Intex Aqua 3G Pro is a dual-SIM 3G phone with GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth for connectivity. The power is provided by a 1400 mAh battery.

Intex Aqua 3G Strong – Rs 3,333

The Intex Aqua 3G Strong is armed with a 4 inch TFT display which has 480 x 800 pixels resolution. The Intex Aqua 3G Strong runs on Android KitKat and has a 1 GHz processor, with 256 MB of RAM. The internal memory stands at 512 MB, to which you can add a 32 GB microSD card.

In the rear panel of the Intex Aqua 3G Strong there is a 2 megapixel shooter, while the front has a VGA selfie taker. The dual-SIM 3G phone has GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth for connectivity. The power is provided by a 1400 mAh battery.

Intex Aqua 4G+

Launched at Rs 9,499, the handset comes with a 5 inch display with high definition resolution. It has the latest Android Lollipop operating system that runs on a 1.3 Ghz quad core processor and 2 GB RAM. There is 12.01 GB of built-in storage and a 32 GB micro SD card slot as well.

The Intex Aqua 4G+ is armed with a 13 megapixel rear camera that comes along with a flash light while in the front it has a 5 megapixel selfie taker. The phone weighs 136.5 grams with a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery that claims to offer 7-8 hours of talktime. The Aqua 4G+ also has Bluetooth, WiFi, and GPS.

Panasonic Eluga S Mini – Rs 8,990

The Panasonic Eluga S Mini has a 4.7 inch IPS display. Running on Android KitKat, the Panasonic Eluga S Mini has an octa-core 1.4 GHz processor, which runs with 1 GB of RAM. The internal memory stands at 8 GB, to which you can add another 32 GB via a microSD card.

The primary camera is an 8 megapixel unit, while in the front there is a 5 megapixel selfie shooter. The dual-SIM Panasonic Eluga S Mini is 3G enabled, and has GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth too. The power is provided by a 1980 mAh battery.

Videocon VA81M – Rs 4,900

The Videocon VA81M is a tablet armed with 7 inch TFT display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The tablet, enabled with voice calling, runs on Android KitKat, and has a dual-core 1.3 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM.

The device has a 2 megapixel primary camera and a VGA front camera. This dual-SIM tablet has GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 3000 mAh battery.

Phicomm P660 – Rs 10,999

The device has a 5 inch display that has full high definition resolution. The Phicomm P660 comes with Android 4.4.4 KitKat version out of the box. The smartphone has the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8939 processor comprising of a 1.5 Ghz octa core processor.

The Phicomm P660 has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory of which 13.5 GB is available for storage. There is a micro SD card slot as well which also can be doubled up as a holder. The P660 has two Sim card slots of which one can be used as a micro SD card slot too. The Phicomm P660 is compatible with 4G networks and it offers WiFi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and even NFC.

Phicomm P660 offers a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. The smartphone has a decent 2300 mAh battery.

HTC Desire 326G – Rs 9,590

The HTC Desire 326G dual SIM comes with a quad-core processor, 2000 mAh removable battery, and an 8 megapixel rear facing camera that has a host of camera features like smile to capture, burst shots and more to take amazing photos. It has a 2 mega-pixel BSI front facing camera and a 4.5 inch color display.

The HTC Desire 326G dual SIM also comes with an expandable memory of up to 32GB and like all other HTC smartphones, it has the HTC Sense interface and the HTC BlinkFeed where all your social feed and content are organized neatly on the main display. It has Zoe Highlights to easily create, edit and share what you captured as a video presentation and upload it to social media.

The HTC Desire 326G dual SIM comes with Easy Mode for no fuss easy use of the smartphone with only the commonly used apps, it is for those who don’t need all the functionalities. The smartphone has 1GB RAM and 8GB on-board storage.

Desire 326G dual SIM is available in White Birch and Black Onyx colours and has an MOP of Rs 9,590.

Micromax Canvas Tab P690 – Rs 8,999

The Micromax Canvas Tab P690 is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system and is said to be upgradable to Android Lollipop version. Armed with an 8 inch IPS display that has 1280×800 pixels resolution, it comes with a 1.83 GHz Intel quad core processor and 1 GB RAM. For storage, the tablet offers 8 GB of in-built memory and an expandable storage slot that can hold a 32 GB micro SD card at max.

The Micromax Canvas Tab P690 is powered by a 4000 mAh battery which is just okay for an 8 inch tablet. With this battery, the tablet claims to offer 180 hours of standby or 13.5 hours of 2G talktime. Remember, these figures are obtained in test condition and hence may or may not reflect in real life usage.

The tablet also offers two cameras – a 2 megapixel fixed focus unit in the front and a 5 megapixel rear auto focus camera. The tablet, which comes in mettalic grey finish, has WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. As per the listing, the Canvas Tab P690 has 3G connectivity and voice call support, but it is not clear whether it has one of two SIM slots.

Celkon Millenia Q452 – Rs 4,299

Celkon Millennia Q452 comes with dual SIM offering 3G connectivity. Its 4.5 inch IPS display has FWVGA or 854×480 pixels resolution. This Android 4.4.2 KitKat based smartphone has a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, 512 MB RAM, and 8 GB of inbuilt storage. There is a 32 GB (max) capacity based micro SD card slot in the phone too.

Other than that the Celkon Millennia Q452 offers a 3.2 megapixel rear camera with flash light, a front camera for selfies, Bluetooth, WiFi, and a 1500 mAh battery.

The difference between the new Q452 and the month old Q450 is that the later has only 4 GB inbuilt storage, 1.3 GHz quad core processor, but a much better 5 megapixel rear camera.

Micromax Canvas Knight 2 – Rs 16,299

The new Micromax Canvas Knight 2 is based on Android Lollipop operating system and is powered by the 64 bit, Snapdragon 615 octa core processor. There is also good 2 GB DDR3 RAM and a 32 GB micro SD card slot that beefs up its internal storage exact capacity of which is not known at this point of time.

Further the Micromax Canvas Knight 2 has a 5 inch HD with 3; the back panel too has the tough glass covering. The phone also looks good in the camera department with a 13 megapixel rear unit that has Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor and a Largan 5P lens. In the front it offers a 5 megapixel unit with Omnivision OV5648 sensor and the same 5P lens.

Note that there are two nano SIM slots in the Knight 2 that supports 4G networks (both SIMs). Reportedly, Airtel is offering 4G SIM for free with the phone alongside double data benefit.

Micromax has armed the Canvas Knight 2 with a 2260mAh battery that claims to deliver up to 7 hours and 45 minutes of talk time and 335 hours of standby time. Powered with Cirus Logic Wolfson Stereo WM8998, the smartphone also promises the best in class experience for music aficionados and delivers clear, room-filling, deep sound.
