RIM has launched the BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9981 in India for Rs 1,39,990.

Research in Motion has quietly introduced the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 smartpthone in India.

Designed exclusively by the Porsche Design Group, the new BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 will be available for Rs 1,39,990 from BlackBerry Premium and BlackBerry Exclusive stores.

Housing a powerful hardware, the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 features a special customisation bearing BlackBerry 7.0 Operating System and houses a powerful 1.2 GHz Qualcomm mobile processor. At such a premium price, the P’9981 is aimed at the BlackBerry lovers with great design aspiration.

The new BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 is the re-incarnated BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 but with a greater styling and design conceived by the Porsche Design Group. The Porsche Design P’9981 features 2.8-inch touchscreen display supporting (640×480) pixel resolution. Under the 11.3mm thick chassis rests a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8655 with Adreno 205 graphics.

RIM has also added the near-field communication chip that can connect and operate wirelessly by consuming minimal power. By offering 8 onboard storage, one can add up to 32 GB to this smartphone.

This smartphone features the same fixed focus 5 camera with Flash to capture photos with 4X support and can support 720p video recording. Other features of this handset include bluetooth, WiFi, accelerometer, magnetometer, proximity sensor, and dual-microphone for background noise suppression. By default, this smartphone comes with 1230 battery that promises run time of about 5.5 hours.
