Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Zenfone Max M2 receive FOTA update

The update brings January security patch as well as some system stability improvements to both the devices.

Asus has started rolling out a new update for its recently-launched Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Zenfone Max M2 in India. The ZenFone Max Pro M2 is receiving FOTA version 15.2016.1901.186 while the ZenFone Max M2 is receiving FOTA version 15.2016.1901.156. The update brings January security patch as well as some system stability improvements to both the devices.

The update in Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 brings support for camera scene detect, which will automatically detect the scene and change camera settings accordingly. It also upgrades the touch screen firmware and improves the front camera quality. The update also improves system power consumption.

The update in Asus Zenfone Max M2 brings camera support with AI scene detection, update and optimize the camera system. The changelog also mentions that the FOTA version updates and optimizes the system.

Asus has revealed that the update is currently rolling out in batches. Users can check for the latest update by going to Settings > About Phone > System updates.

To recall, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 features a 6.3-inch Full display with a screen resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. The phone has a 3GB RAM and 4GB of RAM coupled with 32GB/64GB/128GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by a 5000mAh battery. It has dual-camera setup with a combination of a primary sensor of 12-megapixel and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. For the front, there is a 13-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture, 26mm focal length, flash and face unlock.

The Asus Zenfone Max M2 features a 6.3-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor along with Adreno 506 GPU. It has a 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The phone has a dual rear camera setup, with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel dedicated depth sensor. For the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels, and an LED flash module. The phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.
