Asus rolls out the Android 8.1 Oreo to Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL)

There are two variants of the Asus ZenFone 3 Max - ZC520TL and ZC553KL. It is to be noted that that update is being currently rolled out to ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL).

Asus has today rolled out the Android 8.1 Oreo to Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) smartphone. Itwas launched in India back in 2016 with Android Marshmallow wrapped under ZenUI 3.0. Later the phone received Android Nougat 7.0 update with Zen UI 4.0 in 2017.

Asus ZenFone 3 Max comes in two variants – ZC520TL and ZC553KL. It is to be noted that that update is being currently rolled out to ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL).

The Android Soulum first discovered the update and it confirms that the Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) is now getting Android 8.1 Oreo. The update brings ZenUI version up to version 5.0.

The update comes with firmware version 15.0200.1807.406. The official ZenTalk forum, however, does not reveal the full changelog of this update. It has only listed the update to ZenUI 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo in the changelog and nothing else.

Asus also states that it should take about one week for the system to complete the roll out to all handsets. The update is pushed over-the-air, so it may take some time before it comes to your device. If one wants to manually check for the update, he can go to Settings ->About Phone -> Software Update. Before starting the update, your device should be at least 50% charged with a stable network.

If we recall the specs of Asus Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL), it features a 5.5-inch full HD 2.5D curved glass display. It is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core 64-bit processor clocked at 1.4GHz. Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory, which can be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. For the camera, it has a 16-megapixel rear sensor with PDAF, laser autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, Dual flash, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chats.
