Apple is all set to launch its next generation iPhone tomorrow and at the same time a stable version of iOS 10 is also expected to be unveiled. Apple had released the developer version of iOS 10 back in June this year. So with the iOS 10 stable version perhaps coming tomorrow, let’s have a look at the best features of the iOS 10.
Waking up the iPhone
Apple has finally done away with the outdated ‘Slide to Unlock’ which has been there since iPhone’s inception. Picking up the device will automatically light up the lock-screen and in order to unlock the device one needs to just press the home button. Pressing the home button will either unlock the device through Touch ID or any passcode if you have been using one.
Improved Lock-screen notifications
Well this feature has been in Android since Lollipop and has finally made way to the iOS. Notifications on lock-screen will be detailed and uncluttered in the iOS 10. Not only this, the notifications on the iOS 10 will also be able to use Apple’s 3D touch functionality. In the other words, users will be able to access detailed notifications through 3D touch. Moreover, this functionality can also be extended to third-party apps such as Uber.
Clear All Notifications button
The all-important ‘clear all’ notifications button makes way in the iOS 10. Swiping each app individually has always been a mess and time consuming and often users would not clear the notifications at all. Just swipe down the notification panel and hard press the ‘X’ button which reveals the clear all notifications option.
Siri recently seemed to have lost some sheen to Google Now. But with iOS 10, Apple has been promising that Siri will be revamped for better results and more functionality. In iOS 10, users will now be able to write text messages, image searches, download apps etc. In iOS 10, third-party apps reportedly can use Siri; for example, Uber users can use Siri to book cabs.
Home-Kit app basically connects with your home-based IoT (Internet of Things) gadgets and brings them all in this app through which you can control each gadget with super ease. Also, this app can also be interacted via Siri which makes it even easier to access.
The media control centre will see a revamp in design uncluttering various controls in the menu.
New Apple maps are said to be better both in searching for locations as well as navigation. Users will now be able to pan and zoom the locations and ill also come with features like traffic indicator on different routes.
Camera and Widgets on lock-screen is another addition to the new OS which will come really handy in certain situations.
Further, Apple will also integrate Siri in iOS keyboard and will also bunch of unique emojis.
Apple Music will also see an interface revamp and there will be a lot more for paid subscribers for Apple’s music service.
There will be also a feature which would detect water and would warn you to remove the lightning cable in order to prevent the device.
Though iOS 10 can be still downloaded through Apple’s beta program but following the pattern Apple usually releases the latest iOS two days before the new iPhone launch. This year’s iPhone is likely to be available starting September 16, so iOS 10 might come out on the September 14. iOS 10 will be available for devices starting from iPhone 5.
