Smartron has rolled out the latest Android Oreo update for Smartron srt.phone. The Smartron srt.phone was launched in India last year with Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.
The company has announced the rollout of the Oreo update via its official Twitter handle. The tweet reads “The latest #AndroidOreo update now available. Download it on your #srtphone now!“. You can see the tweet below:

Currently, the Smartron srt.phone is available on Flipkart for Rs 7,300 for the 4GB RAM and 32GB storage variant while the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant is available for Rs 8,999.
Since the update is being rolled out over-the-air, it may take some time before it comes to your device and will reach all the users in coming weeks. One can also manually check for the update by going to Settings ->About Phone -> Software Update. Before starting the update, your device should be at least 50% charged with a stable Wi-Fi network.
After the Oreo update, the smartphone will have picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. So, for example, one can minimise a YouTube video while sending a text message or writing an email. Android Oreo has other features like including Background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.
Coming to specifications, the device features a polycarbonate body and has a removable back cover and a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. The phone is backed by a 4GB of RAM and comes in two storage variant: one 32GB internal storage and another with 64GB of internal storage, with no expandable memory option, though there is unlimited Cloud Storage with tcloud service.
The device now runs on the latest Android Oreo and is juiced by a 3000mAh battery along with Quick Charge 2.0. On the camera front, the device comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies and video calling. On the connectivity front, the smartphone supports 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and USB Type-C port.
