Xiaomi has finally rolled out the Android 7.0 Nougat for its most popular and most selling device, the Redmi Note 4 smartphone in India. The smartphone was launched in India earlier this year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
Xiaomi recently announced MIUI 9 alongside the Mi 5X in China. But the company has rolled out the Android Nougat update for Redmi Note 4 based on MIUI with MIUI OS version MIUI 126.96.36.199 in India and not based on MIUI 9, as per a report of Gadgets 360. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 currently runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is scheduled to get the MIUI 9 update as well in future. Initially, the rollout of the MIUI 9 is scheduled to begin today in China for Redmi Note 4.
Do keep in mind that before you go for the downloading the update, check that battery of your smartphone. It should have at least 50% charge and 2GB of free space is available. Since the update is being rolled out over-the-air, it may take some time before it comes to your device. One can also manually check for the update by going to Settings ->About Phone -> Software Update.
The Android Nougat brings in features including split-screen multitasking, more customisable quick settings, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications and recent applications window. Further, the latest Android OS version also brings in 'Double Tap' on the Recent button to switch between the two most recent apps which come in very handy at times. For extended battery life, Android Nougat comes with 'Doze on the go' which will get activated even if your Nougat running device is in your pocket. It also includes new additional features such as home screen settings option, antivirus scan feature, new ringtones.
Just yesterday, we reported Android Nougat 7.0 update for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 smartphone in Greece. The device is priced at Rs 9,999 for 2GB RAM + 32GB internal storage, Rs 10,999 for 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage and Rs 12,999 for 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and comes in Dark Grey, Black and Gold colour options.
As far as specifications Redmi Note 4 are concerned, it comes with a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) 2.5D curved glass display and a 2.0 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. The hybrid dual SIM smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating and has a 4100 mAh battery. In terms of design, the smartphone features a fingerprint scanner at the back.
For the storage, it comes with 2GB RAM + 32GB internal storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB of internal storage variants, all of which are expandable via microSD card. The smartphone offers a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with dual tone LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel front camera. On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), GPS with AGS/GLONASS and USB Type C. The handset measures 151 x 76 x 8.35mm and weighs 175 grams.
