Android 4.1 coming for Sony Xperia in Feb next year

Sony has announced to release Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for its Xperia T, TX and V smartphones by February 2013.

Sony Mobile has shared the updates on its plan to release the 4.1 Jelly Bean for its Xperia 2012 family of devices. The company plans to start he roll out of the update from February onwards. The company is working on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with its Timescape user interface.

Sony has stated that the first in the line for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will be Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V smartphones. These three Xperia phones will get the update between February 2013 and March 2013.

At the end of March 2013, the Xperia P, Xperia J and Xperia go will start receiving the update. Following that will be the turn of the Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia Ion and Xperia Acro S.

Sony plans to integrate the features of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with the Timescape user interface and add more value to the update.

There are number of devices that will not be getting the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update and the list includes Xperia U, Xperia Miro, Xperia Tipo, and Xperia Sola. These devices won’t get any update beyond the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

From now onwards, the Sony Xperia smartphone owners will have to wait till February and March end onwards to receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. This update will be pushed out in a phase-wise manner and the availability dates will vary from region to region.
