AMD unveils Ryzen 9 3950X CPU, Radeon RX 5700/XT GPUs

AMD’s Ryzen 9 3950X desktop-class CPU will come with 16 cores and 32 threads. It registers a base clockspeed of 3.5 GHz and 4.7 GHz when overclocking the processor. AMD says with the help of liquid nitrogen, it managed to push the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X processor to 5.375 GHz.

At the E3 2019 press conference, AMD has announced the world’s first 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X gaming CPU, Radeon RX 5700 and Radeon RX 5700 XT GPUs. The Ryzen 9 3950X will be available for $749 (approx. Rs 52,000) while the Radeon RX 5700 series will start at $379 (approx. Rs 26,300).

In an effort to rival Intel, AMD’s Ryzen 9 3950X desktop-class will come with 16 cores and 32 threads. It registers a base clockspeed of 3.5 GHz and 4.7 GHz when overclocking the processor. AMD says with the help of liquid nitrogen, it managed to push the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X to 5.375 GHz.

The Ryzen 9 is based on Zen 2 hardware and operates at a TDP of 105 watts. Users can also use AMD’s latest Ryzen Master Software utility to tweak overclocking features and make the most of the performance. The Ryzen 9 3950X CPU has managed to achieve a multi-thread score of 12,167 on Cinebench R20 benchmarking.

The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X gaming CPU will be available in September for $749 (approx. Rs 52,000).

AMD Radeon RX 5700, RX 5700 XT GPUs

AMD’s Radeon RX 5700 and Radeon RX 5700 XT GPUs are based on the latest and greatest RDNA architecture and will compete against NVIDIA’s RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 respectively. The higher-end model which is the 5700 XT comes with 40 compute units and boost speeds of up to 1.9GHz and support for up to 9.75 teraflops. In contrast, the regular 5700 features 36 compute units and speeds of up to 1.7GHz.

In a demonstration against the NVIDIA RTX 2070, the Radeon RX 5700 XT outdid the former by scoring 20 more in 1440p resolution. The Radeon RX 5700 series will feature high-fidelity graphics through FidelityFX open source SDK, anti-lag performance and better post-processing.

AMD also announced a 50th-anniversary edition of the 5700XT, available in unique gold and black, with speeds of up to 1.98GHz.

The AMD Radeon RX 5700, Radeon RX 5700 XT and Radeon RX 5700 XT 50th anniversary edition will be available from July 7 for prices of $379 (approx. Rs 26,300), $449 (approx. Rs 31,200) and $499 (approx. Rs 34,650) respectively.
