Amazon Echo speaker with Alexa voice assistant to launch this Diwali: Report

The company is currently testing two variants, the Echo and Echo Dot, with some of its employees.

Amazon is reportedly gearing up to launch the wireless speaker Echo with its virtual assistant Alexa in India. The company is reported to announce the speaker this Diwali and it will be priced at Rs 11,000 to Rs 12,000.

According to a report by FactorDaily, the company is currently testing two variants, the Echo and Echo Dot, with some of its employees. “(The) earlier plan was to launch it around December but it looks like they will be out sooner,” a company source told the publication. Further, the report also mentions that the Echo Dot speaker will come with a price tag of Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000.

The company is looking to add the local language support for Alexa and it is currently working on Hindi and Tamil languages. Amazin Echo is currently selling for $179 in the United States and is a direct competitor to Google’s new home speaker ‘Home’.

Both Google Home and Amazon Echo are two enabled speakers which come with Google Assistant and Alexa (Personal Assistants) respectively. The devices give you informative answers to your questions of any domain and also perform tasks like play music, and other day-to-day miscellaneous tasks like set reminders etc.
