Acer Iconia tablets with Windows 8 unveiled

Acer has introduced two Windows 8 running tablets - Iconia W700 and Iconia W510.

Acer has unveiled two new Windows 8 operating system running tablets – Iconia Tab W700 and Iconia Tab W510, at the Computex 2012 in Taipei (Taiwan) today. The Acer Iconia W700 features an 11.6-inch touchscreen display and most likely will be priced anywhere between $799 (Rs 44,310 approx.) to $999 (Rs 55,387). However, no details about the pricing of the 10.1-inch touchscreen bearing Tab W510 are available as yet.

These tablets run Metro user interface bearing Windows 8 and also has the Windows store. The new Acer Iconia Tab W700 has an 11.6-inch, full 1080p supporting display. The tablet has three 3.0 ports on its body and has a cradle that allows viewing the display from different angles. There’s also a Dolby Home Theater audio technology installed on it. Other connectivity options on this tablet include Thunderbolt and micro HDMI. No other details of the tablet have been made public by Acer.

On the other hand, the Iconia Tab W510 comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen display that provides about 295 degree angle view. This tablet also comes in a tri – mode – touch, type and view. Acer will offer this tablet with detachable keyboard dock that can be hooked to the tablet.

Acer just showed these tablets and no details on the specifications of either of them were shared. So we know not what was running inside these tablets but those who were present at the stall confirmed that it might not be an ARM based processor. Acer did not commit on any expected date of availability of these tablets but we can expect to be available by the end of this year.
