Acer Iconia B1 tablet with dual-core processor to cost $99

Acer is reportedly planning to launch a $99 tablet with dual-core mobile processor to compete with Asus Google Nexus 7.

Acer is preparing to compete with Google and Asus team with an affordable $99 tablet. This affordable Acer Iconia B1 will feature a 7-inch display and will pack a dual-core 1.2 Ghz mobile processor inside. The Acer Iconia B1 is set to compete with Asus Nexus 7 purely on the price front.

Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet with 720p display and quad-core Nvidia Tegra mobile processor has been selling like hot cakes in many regions of the world. Recently, the 32 WiFi only and 32 GB WiFi+3G models of the Asus Nexus 7 were introduced.

Now Acer’s Iconia B1 tablet has passed the certification tests with the Federal Communications Commission. The Iconia B1 tablet features a 7-inch touchscreen display with 1024×600 pixel resolution. Inside the chassis, Acer has packed a dual-core 1.2 GHz MediaTek mobile processor, 512 RAM and with 8 GB storage.

This Iconia B1 will run 4.1.2 Jelly Bean upgrade and might have light skinning from Acer. Acer will also pack a 4.0, module and micro card slot to expand the storage. Acer has not announced when this tablet will be launched and we are aiming at a date just before the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 in January.
