Today there are dozens of Mediatek quad core Processor handsets in the Indian market in the price range of Rs 6,000 to Rs 15,000, mostly from Indian and Chinese manufacturers. However, only a handful come with Intel processors, and all of them are from Xolo – an Indian handset manufacturer which is also the first device maker to launch an Intel processor based smartphone.
Here, thus, we have compared the Micromax Canvas 2 Plus, which is based on a Mediatek quad core processor, with Xolo X910, which is based on an Intel Atom processor. Both handsets are available for around Rs 10,000.
Design and display
The visible difference between the two smartphones is their display; while the Xolo X910 has a 4.3 inch display, the Canvas 2 Plus comes with a 5 inch touchscreen. However, the Xolo handset has qHD (540 x 960 pixel) Resolution while the Canvas 2 Plus has only FWVGA (480 x 854 pixel) resolution. Clearly, Pixel density is better in the Xolo handset. Both, though, come with IPS displays, promising better viewing angles.
As is quite evident from its bigger display, the Canvas 2 Plus is a bit heavier at 164 grams than Xolo X910, which weighs 150 grams. However, the Micromax handset (9.7 mm) is slimmer than Xolo X910 (10 mm).

Processor
The Xolo X910 comes with an Intel Atom Z2460 processor with a clockspeed of 1.6 GHz. Though it is a single core processor it can act as a dual core processor if the situation demands due to its hyper threading technology.
Canvas 2 Plus has a Mediatek MT6589M quad core processor, which comes with 1.2 GHz clockspeed. Prima facie, the Xolo X910’s dual core processor seems to have no standing against the quad core processor but the Intel processor is known for its efficient battery. Also, many have reported the Xolo X910 as having Antutu benchmark scores of around 12000 while the Canvas 2 Plus reportedly scores around 13500 on the same benchmark.
Memory
Both handsets come with 1 GB RAM and 32 GB Internal Memory but Xolo X910 takes the trophy in this segment with its 2 GB internal user available memory (4 GB total) while the Micromax device has only 1.5 GB of user available memory.
OS
Curiously, Xolo X910 comes with Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The Canvas 2 Plus, though, has the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

Battery
Both X910 and Canvas 2 Plus come with 2000 mAh batteries, but the Xolo X910 is expected to provide better battery output as it has a smaller touchscreen and Intel Z2460 processor, which claims to conserve more battery power than other mobile processors.
Camera
Figuratively, the Micromax Canvas 2 Plus with its 8 Megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front camera is definitely better than Xolo X910, which has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera.
But Micromax devices have not fared well in the past when it comes to the camera, while Xolo had impressed us in this department.
Connectivity
Both are dual SIM handsets and come with WiFi, Bluetooth, a 3.5 mm jack and Micro USB port. However, Canvas 2 Plus comes with Bluetooth 4.0 against Bluetooth 2.1 of Xolo X910.
Conclusion
Phones may give altogether different result (better or worse) than their features suggest, but Micromax Canvas 2 Plus is definitely for those who want a bigger smartphone. Though doubts still remain, it seems to provide better gaming and camera performance. Xolo X910, though, would appeal to those who want longer battery life and overall good performance.
