Xiaomi to skip MWC 2017 after Hugo Barra exits

As a result, Mi 6 which was earlier rumoured to debut at the MWC 2017 is now rumoured to launch later in the year.

Seems like Xiaomi will follow Samsung and skip this year’s Mobile World Congress which is all set to take place next month in Barcelona, Spain. As per the latest report from TechCrunch, the Chinese handset manufacturer will not attend the annual tech show as a result of which we will now have to wait even longer for the upcoming Mi 6. If previous rumours were to be taken into consideration, Xiaomi was expected to launch its next flagship, the Mi 6 at MWC 2017. The company unveiled the Mi 5 last year at the tech show which was the first time Xiaomi embarked its presence on the other side (west) of the globe.Similarly, Samsung is also expected to skip the MWC and not launch its upcoming flagship,Galaxy S8, in the tech show.

The news has come just after the ex-Global head, Hugo Barra, recently announced that he will be leaving the company to go back to Silicone Valley. Further, Barra has now also confirmed that he will join Facebook as VP of Virtual Reality (VR) which has further spiced up the whole episode.
