Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is going to be phased out in India soon, will be replaced by Redmi Note 7S

This comes as a surprise for many as the company is phasing out a smartphone, which was launched just three months before.

Xiaomi recently announced the launch of its latest budget-centric smartphone, the Redmi Note 7S, in India. With this, many asked the future of the Redmi Note 7. To put an end to all the speculations, Xiaomi has confirmed that the “Redmi Note 7 will be phased out” in India.

The brand has confirmed that the smartphone will be phased out pretty soon and it will be replaced with Redmi Note 7S. This comes as a surprise for many as the company is phasing out a smartphone, which was launched just three months before. Furthermore, it is sad news for the Xiaomi fans who recently purchased the Redmi Note 7. The company has not revealed the cause behind the phase-out, but it makes sense as the Redmi Note 7S offers a similar set of specifications when compared to the Redmi Note 7.

The only differentiating factor here is the inclusion of 48-megapixel sensor at the rear along with a 5-megapixel secondary shooter. This makes it the second smartphone from Xiaomi after Redmi Note 7 Pro and the cheapest phone sporting such large camera sensor in India at this price range. Interestingly, in a response to a tweet, Anuj Sharma, head of Marketing, Xiaomi India, said, “More connected with lifecycle volumes than time. Sometimes planned volumes sell out faster than expected (way faster).”

To recall, the smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs 10,999 for 3GB and 12,999 for the 4GB RAM variant. The Redmi Note 7 was introduced for Rs 9,999 for the 3GB RAM variant, while the 4GB RAM option was priced at Rs 10,999. The smartphone is also set to go on sale on Flipkart starting from May 23.
