Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM rolls out in India, but where is Oreo?

Users can manually check for the update by going to Settings>About>System Updates.

Xiaomi has announced the rollout of MIUI 9.5 Global Stable for its budget-centric smartphone, the Redmi Note 5 in India. The latest update brings a host of interesting features such as new notifications center, quick search option and bug fixes.

The update carries version number V9.5.3.0.NEGMIFA and it will be rolled out in a few days via Over-the-air (OTA) update. It is important to note that the update is still based on Nougat. Users can manually check for the update by going to Settings>About>System Updates. The latest update brings new quick search options and the brand has also added sound recording option for screen recorder.

The update also brings new format for floating notifications in the landscape mode and the brand has also adjusted the position of the search bar as well. Additionally, with the Mi Mover app, users can transfer apps with or without data and one can resume interrupted transfers in Mi Mover without starting over. However, like said above, the update is still based on ageing Android Nougat. At a time when most of the manufacturers like Asus, Huawei, OnePlus, and more are providing the Android Oreo update to most of its smartphones, Xiaomi is still stuck with Android Nougat. The company has been known for not providing the latest update to its users within a time frame, which at of the day, does hamper company’s image. It is high-time for Xiaomi to start rolling out the latest update, at least, to its hot-selling smartphones to retain the number 1 position in the Indian smartphone industry.
