Xiaomi has launched a new variant of its popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 smartphone – Redmi Note 4 Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in India at Rs 12,999. The smartphone will be available for sale today starting at 12 PM via Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Home stores and other offline partner stores as well. The company has not changed any specifications of the existing variant but it comes in Lake Blue colour. It will only be available in 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage variant.
The company has partnered with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan under ‘Wake the Lake’ project which will focus on cleaning the Kempambudhi Kere lake in Bengaluru. The new variant is a part of the initiative to clean up the lakes in the city of Bengaluru in India. Xiaomi has said that a part of proceeds from the sale of Redmi Note 4 units will be contributed to support initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Recently, Android 7.0 Nougat was rolled out for Redmi Note 4 smartphone with MIUI OS version MIUI 8.5.4.0 in India. The Android Nougat brings in features including split-screen multitasking, more customisable quick settings, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications and recent applications window. Further, the latest Android OS version also brings in ‘Double Tap’ on the Recent button to switch between the two most recent apps which come in very handy at times. For extended battery life, Android Nougat comes with ‘Doze on the go’ which will get activated even if your Nougat running device is in your pocket. It also includes new additional features such as home screen settings option, antivirus scan feature, new ringtones.
As far as specifications Redmi Note 4 are concerned, it comes with a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) 2.5D curved glass display and a 2.0 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. The hybrid dual SIM smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating and has a 4100 mAh battery. In terms of design, the smartphone features a fingerprint scanner at the back.
For the storage, it comes 4GB RAM + 64GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card. The smartphone offers a 13-megapixel Autofocus rear camera with dual tone LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 Aperture and a 5-megapixel front camera. On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), GPS with AGS/GLONASS and USB Type C. The handset measures 151 x 76 x 8.35mm and weighs 175 grams.
