Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A confirmed to get Android Pie update, Poco F1 to get Android Q soon

The company is currently looking for beta testers for the global stable ROM for Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A smartphones.

Xiaomi previously cancelled the 9.0 Pie update to its entry-level smartphones, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A. However, it seems that the company has changed its mind and it will soon roll out the Pie update to both the smartphones. Furthermore, Poco F1 will soon get Android Q update as well.

The company is currently looking for beta testers for the global stable for Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A smartphones. This is because the company is shutting all beta updates for its smartphones from July onwards. Interested users can enroll for the programme and those accepted into the programme will get a message on July 10.

Xiaomi is also looking for beta testers for its Poco F1 smartphone as well. The beta testers will get to test the latest Android Q, which is yet to roll out by Google. It is also looking for users to test out the stable ROM for Xiaomi Mi 6 phone as well. Users need to fill the form to participate into the beta programme.

Previously, the company has started seeding both the phones with MIUI 10 stable version, though both of them are still missing Android Pie.The new update comes with a version number MIUI V10.3.20.OCGMIXM for both the models.

The update carries a weight 279MB for Redmi 6 and 289MB for Redmi 6A. The update also brings April security patch to both the smartphones. With this, users can enjoy the new features of the MIUI 10 Stable ROM with the new update. In order to check for it, users can go to Settings > About Phone > System Update and check for the latest update.
