Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus pricing leaked ahead of launch

Both the smartphones will ship with MIUI 9 out of the box.

Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones in China on December 7. There have been many reports and leaks about the phone already. Almost every other day we are seeing some new info (not necessarily all accurate) about it, including some official teasers. Now ahead of the launch, Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus have been found listed on the retailer’s website AliExpress along with the pricing.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is priced at $199 in Black or Gold colours while for the Blue or Pink colours, the device is priced at $209. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is priced at $249 on the website. The website also shows a disclaimer with the Redmi 5 smartphones that the devices are still in the pre-sale stage, indicating the listed specifications may not be final. However, the seller’s connection with the actual company Xiaomi is not verified. So, the prices listed on the website can’t be taken for real and we have to wait for tomorrow until the official announcement of both the smartphones.

Recently, it was revealed that both the smartphones will ship with MIUI 9 out of the box. MIUI 9 is the company’s latest Android-based skin, MIUI, and it comes with a number of enhancements over MIUI 8.

As far as specifications of Xiaomi Redmi 5 are concerned, it will feature a 5.7-inch display that supports resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels along with support for 18:9 aspect ratio. It is reported to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 coupled with 3GB RAM. For the camera, the smartphone is said to feature a rear camera of 12-megapixel. However, a previous report has suggested that the device will feature a rear camera of 8-megapixel and front camera of 6-megapixel.

As per earlier leaks, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus smartphone is said to feature a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with a possible 18:9 aspect ratio, and a Snapdragon 625 or Snapdragon 630 SoC. It will possibly launch in two variants of 3GB with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The smartphone is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup, which could be a combination of a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras. The smartphone will run 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9 and it will be backed up by 4000 battery.
