Some leaked firmware files reveal the existence of two new Android One smartphones from Xiaomi. The phones are codenamed as “jasmine_sprout” and “daisy_sprout” respectively.
Xiaomi recently unveiled its latest, the Xiaomi Mi 6X smartphone in China, which is highly anticipated to be none other than Mi A2. Now, according to a new report, the company is working on the successor of Mi A1 along with a new Android One smartphone.
Some leaked firmware files, as reported by XDA Developers, reveal the existence of two new Android One smartphones from Xiaomi. The phones are codenamed as “jasmine_sprout” and “daisy_sprout” respectively. Interestingly, the first generation Xiaomi Mi A1 was codenamed as “tissot_srpout”, where “sprout” means the handset falls under Android One programme, the report highlighted.
The report further highlighted that the Xiaomi Mi A2 will be based on Mi 6X, similar to what we have seen in the case of M1 A1 aka Mi 5X. The report further mentions that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, the same SoC that is present in Mi 6X. Further, the phone will come loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo and it might support Project Treble as well.
Coming to the another Android One smartphone, “daisy_sprout”, the firmware files reveals that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which is present in Mi A1. The report further highlights that the smartphone could be a rebranded version of the Xiaomi Redmi S2 and it could be possibly first Redmi Android One device.
To recall, the smartphone was launched in China this month. The smartphone is available in five colour options including Red, Gold, Rose Gold, Blue and Black. The phone comes with price tag of CNY 1,599 (approx. Rs 16,908) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option, CNY 1,799 (approx. Rs 19,023) for the 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage option, CNY 1,999 (approx. Rs 21,138) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X features a metallic unibody and it comes loaded with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 2160 × 1080 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and it will be available in three variants: 4GB RAM with 64GB storage; 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
