Xiaomi Mi 8 SE to launch in India as Mi 8i next month: Report

Alongside Mi 8 SE, Xiaomi will also be launching Mi Band 3 in India. The fitness band was also launched in China last month. There is no specific date mentioned in the report but both the devices are expected to hit the Indian shores next month.

Xiaomi launched Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition and Mi 8 SE smartphones last month in China. Now new reports suggest that the company will be launching Mi 8 SE in India next month. Alongside, it is also said to launch the company’s fitness tracker – Mi Band 3.

Beebom reports that Xiaomi will be launching Mi 8 SE as Mi 8i, with ‘i’ indicating India. The official Mi 8 SE page’s URL for Mi 8 SE in China refers to the phone as “Mi8i”. Further, the report states the Mi 8 SE could be priced between Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 in India. The Mi 8 SE will be sold in China for 1,799 yuan (approx. Rs 19,000).

Beebom’s source also claims that alongside Mi 8 SE, Xiaomi will also be launching Mi Band 3 in India. The fitness band was also launched in China last month. There is no specific date mentioned in the report but both the devices are expected to hit the Indian shores next month. As far as the pricing of the Mi Band 3 is concerned, it is expected to launch at a price of Rs 2,000. It is priced 169 yuan (approx. Rs 1,780) in China.

The Mi 8 SE smartphone comes with 5.88-inch display with a screen of 2244×1080 pixels and an in-screen fingerprint sensor on the front. The phone runs on a Snapdragon 710 chipset, with either 4GB or 6GB of and 64GB internal storage.

The Mi 8 SE has a dual camera setup with 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors, whereas the front has a 20-megapixel front camera. Both cameras boast features, with scene recognition capabilities, AI Beautify, and AI background bokeh for the selfie camera.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 displays your messages and answer your calls right off its display. There’s a weather forecast notification as well as an which can both be accessed through the touchscreen of the activity tracker. The Mi Band is equipped with a heart rate monitor and can also count the number of steps you took for an entire day as part of its health-based functions. The Mi Band 3 comes with an improved battery that will last you up to 20 days on a single charge. The fitness tracker is also resistant to dust and water to up to 50 meters, meaning the device could well be used for swimming.
