Xiaomi Meri to come with an in-house designed processor: Reports

The Xioami Meri is expected to be launched on December 12 in China.

Remember, the Xioami Mi 5c which was spotted in leaked images some time back. The Xiaomi Mi 5c is codenamed ‘Meri’ and the device is expected to come with an in-house designed processor, as per new reports. Some images of the Xiaomi Meri have been leaked online which has revealed some specifications and the pricing of the device.

Leakster @KJuma, a user on the Chinese website Weibo, has shared some images of the Xiaomi Meri alonqwith the specifications and price. The leak says that the device is expected to come in Rose Gold, Gold, and Black colour variants. Besides as per the post, the Xiaomi Meri is expected to be priced at 1,499 Yuan which is approximately Rs 14,800 and will be powered by Xiaomi’s in-house Pine Cone processor. The processor will be developed by Xiaomi-owned Pine Cone Electronics. The will compete with the likes of Kirin chip, made by Huawei-owned HiSilicon and even Samsung’s Exynos chipset. The Xioami Meri is expected to be launched on December 12 in China.

The leaked image shows power button and volume rocker which is visible on the side of the device. There is also a Mi logo on the top left of the device in the image. The image also shows that the Meri phone will have a 5.5-inch Full display with 1080×1920 pixels resolution and 403ppi as density.

The Xiaomi Meri was earlier spotted on AnTuTu and Geekbench websites. The Geekbench listing revealed that Xiaomi Meri might come with 3GB of RAM and 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with an unknown chipset. The phone scored 758 on the single-core test and 3105 on the multi-core test on Geekbench listing.

The AnTuTu listing revealed the screen size of Xiaomi Meri. As per the Antutu listing, the display on Xiaomi Meri might have 5.5 inches with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Xiaomi Meri scored 63,581 on AnTuTu, which hints that the device might belong to the mid-range category of phones.
