World’s first thermal image scanning smartphone ‘CAT S60’ launched in India for Rs 64,999

The smartphone is an extremely rugged device which can withstand drops from 1.8 metres, all thanks to the die-cast frame.

Cat phones today announced the launch of the Cat S60, the world’s first smartphone with an integrated thermal camera, in India. Priced at Rs 64,999, the smartphone will be available through both offline channels and on Amazon India from March 17, 2017.

Cat S60 is an extremely rugged device which can withstand drops from 1.8 metres, all thanks to the die-cast frame. The device is certified which makes it dustproof, shockproof, waterproof and MIL-SPEC 810G certified.

But what makes it special is the fact that it comes equipped with a thermal camera from FLIR. The camera can be used to detect heat loss around windows and doors; spotting moisture and missing insulation; identifying over-heating electrical appliances and circuitry; and seeing in complete darkness.

The thermal camera visualises heat that is invisible to the naked eye, highlighting temperature contrasts. It can pick up heat and measure surface temperature from a distance of up to 50 feet and see through obscurants such as smoke.

The Cat S60 is also waterproof to depths of two meters, which can be extended to five meters using a unique Lockdown Switch. This enables the smartphone to be used as an underwater camera.
