WhatsApp now brags 1.5 billion monthly active users

Zuckerberg further noted that Instagram and WhatsApp are top two Story-sharing products.

WhatsApp Messenger now has 1.5 billion monthly active users, according to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He further adds that the app has seen nearly 60 billions message exchanges on a single day.

In an earnings call after announcing the quarter fourth results, Zuckerberg further noted that Instagram and WhatsApp are top two Story-sharing products. This is a good jump as in July last year, WhatsApp reported that it has 1.3 billion monthly active users.

The company said that 1 billion active daily users send over 55 billion messages per day, 4.5 billion photos, and 1 billion videos. To recall, WhatsApp had 450 million monthly active users in 2014 when Facebook acquired it. WhatsApp had 350 million daily active users at that time. Now in just two years, it has achieved this milestone by crossing one billion daily active users.

Previously, WhatsApp announced the launch of its standalone WhatsApp Business app on Google Play Store. The free app is specially built and designed by keeping the small business owners. The appis available today and free to download on Google Play in Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the U.K. and the U.S. The app is rolling out around the world in the coming weeks.
