Weekly round-up: Phones, tablets & accessories launched during April 4-10

This week, not a single device was launched by big Indian handset makers like Micromax, Lava, Intex.

This was perhaps the first week in a long time when not a single device was launched by big Indian handset makers like Micromax, Lava, Intex etc. Instead, it was the Chinese makers like Vivo and Oppo who stole the limelight with their mid-range offerings.

So here is a list of devices which were launched earlier this week.

Asus Zenfone Go 5.0 LTE T500

Asus Zenfone Go 5.0 LTE T500 was launched earlier this week for Rs 7,999 and is available from Amazon India. The 3G variant of Asus Zenfone Go 5.0 is available from Flipkart for Rs 6,999.

The Asus Zenfone Go 5.0 LTE T500 features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor and 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB of internal storage in this device to which you can add 32GB more via a micro SD card. The smartphone runs on older 4.4 KitKat operating system with Zen UI on top of it. This handset has a 2500 lithium-ion battery.

The Zenfone Go 5.0 LTE T500 has an 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with Flash and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), WiFi Hotspot, 4.0, GPS, a 2.0 port, Accelerator, Gravity sensor, Proximity sensor, and Ambient light sensor. The handset measures 13.5 x 1 x 6.7 cm and weighs 136 grams.

Vivo V3, V3 Max

Chinese Smartphone maker, Vivo announced the launch of Vivo V3 and Vivo V3 Max smartphones in India this week. The Vivo V3 is priced at Rs 17,980 while the Vivo V3 Max has a tag of Rs 23,980.

Both the phones come with full metal body, HiFi music technology, AK4375 music and fingerprint scanner. As per the company, the back cover of the phones is made of aluminium magnesium while the front display has the coating. The phones also have technology which allows 2 hours of (Hi-Fi) music playback after only 5 minutes of plugging in.

The Vivo V3 has 5 inch HD display, 3 RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, 13 megapixel rear camera, 8 megapixel front camera and Snapdragon 616 octa core processor.

Vivo V3 Max features 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Its camera has Phase Detection (PDAF). The camera, as per the company, can start in just 0.7 seconds thanks to dedicated portion of RAM, and it can focus on subjects in just 0.2 seconds. Vivo V3 Max has an 8 megapixel front camera with Ultra HD mode for enhanced clarity.

The Vivo V3 Max has a 5.5 inch full HD display and Snapdragon 652 octa core processor. The 3000 mAh battery of V3 Max has dual charging and faster charging technology that claims to offer 2 hours of music playback in just 5 minutes of charging.

As per Vivo, these phones will soon be available in the market.

Reach Opulent

India based smartphone manufacturer, Reach Mobiles has launched a new budget smartphone called Reach Opulent. The Reach Cogent is priced at Rs 3,599 and is being sold through Shopclues.

Reach Opulent has a 5-inch IPS HD (1280 x 720) display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core Spreadtrum SC7731 processor which is coupled with 1GB of RAM. The dual SIM based smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and comes packed with a 2500 mAh Lithium-ion battery, which the company claims to offer up-to 7 hours of talk-time and upto 200 hours standby time.

The Reach Opulent comes with 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by upto 32GB via a micro SD card. The smartphone has a 5-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash. For selfies, the smartphone has a 2 megapixel camera is in its front.

For connectivity, the device offers 2G, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/ AGPS, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB 2.0 port and FM Radio. The handset measures 144.7 x 73.1 x 9.1 mm and weighs around 162.6 grams.

The Reach Opulent is available in the four colour options, orange, red, black and white.

Oppo F1 Plus

Oppo announced the launch of ‘F1 Plus’ selfie smartphone in India at Rs 26,990 earlier this week. It comes in two different colors- Gold and Rose Gold. .

The highlight of Oppo F1 Plus is its front camera – a 16-megapixel selfie shooter that comes with 78.1-degree lens, f/2.0 and PDAF. Strangely, its rear camera is of 13-megapixel that has f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash.

As far as other specifications are concerned, the F1 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) AMOLED display. It has a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up-to 128GB via a micro SD card, and Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system on top which lies the ColorOS 3.0 user interface.

The Oppo F1 Plus is powered by a 2850 mAh battery, which come with Super VOOC rapid charging technology, that claims to fully charge the phone in just 15 minutes. Besides, the smartphone offers 4G, Fingerprint scanner and Mali-T860 GPU.

Sony MDR-100ABN

This high end Hi-Res Bluetooth was launched earlier this week for Rs 21,990. It comes with Noise Cancellation technology of 100ABN that claims to be very effective in cancelling ambient noise.

The new headphone utilises LDACTM, an audio coding technology for the transmission of High-Resolution Audio. As per Sony, “LDAC supports several transmission rates according to wireless environment. It allows you to enjoy High-Resolution Audio content in exceptional sound quality by transmitting at the maximum transfer rate of 990 (approximately three times more data than conventional Bluetooth® audio).”

The Sony MDR-100ABN has 40 mm dynamic driver unit and it can also be used as a wired headphone aided by a 1.2m connecting cable. The headphones in response wired mode deliver 5Hz – 40,000Hz and in wireless mode reach upto 20Hz – 40,000Hz.

Its diaphragm domes comes with titanium to suppress unwanted vibrations and reproduce crystal clear sound with high linearity. Its specially designed ear pads claims to boost wear comfort while minimising sound leakage.

This 290 grams (without cable) weighing headphone has NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 1.2 mm cable. It has volume controller as well. The headphone comes with a built in battery that claims to offer up to 20 hours of music playback. It can be charged via normal USB charger.

The Sony MDR-100ABN is available in Black colour.

DataWind PC i3G7 Tablet

DataWind PC i3G7 is priced at Rs 5,999. The company is offering free Internet browsing for one year with Reliance Communications on prepaid GSM SIM cards. The tablet offers voice calling functionality as well.

Microsoft Lumia 650

Microsoft Lumia 650, which was launched in India at Rs 15,299, comes in matte black and matte white colours.

Microsoft Lumia 650 comes with productivity apps like OneDrive for cloud storage, Office apps for making documents and which is Microsoft personal assistant.

Panasonic Eluga Arc

Panasonic revealed its Eluga Arc this week for Rs 12,490.

The Panasonic Eluga Arc comes with a 4.7 inch HD IPS 2.5D curved display that has high definition (1280×720 pixels) resolution. It has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of inbuilt storage. There is an expandable storage as well that can hold a 32 GB micro SD card.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop based Panasonic Eluga Arc is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. It comes with an 8 megapixel rear camera that has f2.0 aperture and 6P lens. An LED flash light is also in its rear panel. A 5 megapixel camera is in the front of Eluga Arc.

Besides, Panasonic Eluga Arc has fingerprint scanner, dual SIM, 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. It has an 1,800 mAh battery that comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 1.0 support.
