HTC is quietly working on yet another Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone for the masses. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has given certification to an unnamed handset – HTC PM6012x. Though the information available from the listing was not a lot, the listing made it obvious that the HTC PM6012x smartphone will come loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
HTC has been working on more Android 4.x smartphones this year. The HTC One X successor, which is being talked about as the HTC One X+ is almost ready for launch. Meanwhile, the company is working on yet another smartphone which might be the successor of the HTC One S.
The Bluetooth SIG listing notes that PM6012X_Android 4.0 will support Bluetooth 4.0 and a number of other Bluetooth-supported profiles. Beyond that, no further details were available.
The Bluetooth SIG has given certification to another HTC smartphone – PM35XXX that appears to be an Android smartphone with Bluetooth 4.0 built-in. This is still an evaluation unit and we can expect the company to put Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on it. (Just being hopeful.)
This new device might be a smartphone with Android 4.0 ICS or it may be that HTC has started work on a Google Experience Device of the Nexus family. This year about five major handset makers will offer Google Experience Nexus Devices.
