UIDAI launches mAadhaar app for Android: Here’s how it works

The app is currently available for Android users and one can download it from Google Play Store.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched an official application for Aadhaar cardholders known as mAadhaar. The is currently available for users and one can download it from Google Play Store.
The application enables users to store their Aadhaar card virtually. The app carries demographic information like name, date of birth, gender and user’s photograph that is linked with one’s Aadhaar number. The app comes with a biometric locking/unlocking system and once the user enables it, his/her biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder chose to either Unlock it (which is temporary) or Disable the Locking system.
Then there is TOTP (Time-based one-time password), which is automatically generated a temporary password, which can be used instead of SMS-based OTP. Lastly, users can update their profiles too after successful completion of the request. But how does it work? The working of the app is pretty simple.
All you need to do is download the application from Google Play Store. Once you open the app, it will ask you the Aadhaar number. One can also scan QR code present on your Aadhaar card as well. The app will then send an OTP number to your registered number.
Once you are through with the verification, the app will ask you for certain permissions and the app will ask to create a new password. Once it is done, it will take you to the home menu, where one can see his/her Aadhaar card. In order to open it, you need to enter the password, you created before and you will be able to see a digital copy of your Aadhaar card.
