Spotify is debuting a new feature called AI DJ which can learn your music taste and play songs on the basis of its learnings. In other words, it will be able to play music which it thinks you like the best. The feature is currently rolling out in beta to a couple of countries and should expand soon to other regions.
Spotify, via a blog post, announced the new AI DJ feature. “The DJ is a personalized AI guide that knows you and your music taste so well that it can choose what to play for you”, explains the company. This feature, first rolling out in beta, will deliver a curated lineup of music alongside commentary around the tracks and artists Spotify thinks you’ll like in a realistic voice.
It will sort through the latest music and also has the ability to look through your past favourites, for instance, a song you haven’t listened to for years. It will then review what you might enjoy and deliver a stream of songs picked just for you. Moreover, it constantly refreshes the lineup based on your feedback. The more you listen and tell the DJ what you like (and don’t like), the better it will be able to recommend you songs.

How foes Spotify AI DJ works?
Spotify also explained how it made the feature work. It said that it integrated Spotify’s personalization technology, which gives you a lineup of music recommendations based on what we know you like. Next, there’s Generative AI which has been put together through the use of OpenAI technology. The company says that it put the technology in the hands of its music editors to provide users with insightful facts about the music, artists, or genres they’re listening to.
“With this generative AI tooling, our editors are able to scale their innate knowledge in ways never before possible”, says the company. For the DJ’s voice you would be listening to, there’s a dynamic AI voice platform that has been integrated, thanks to Spotify’s Sonantic acquisition that brings to life realistic voices from text.
The Spotify AI DJ feature is rolling out in English for Spotify Premium users in the U.S. and Canada. You can head to your Music Feed on Home in the Spotify mobile App on your iOS or Android device and tap Play on the DJ card to make use of the feature.
