Sony Ericsson Xperia Play launched

The official date of shipping is to be announced but the good news in that this device will start shipping by the end of March 2011.

Sony Ericsson has launched its gaming smartphone Xperia play at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona.

The Xperia Play is a smartphone Hybrid, a device that has the features of a smartphone and a Sony Playstation portable all rolled in to one sleek and smart looking device.
It is looking good on the configuration front. It features the latest version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor running at 1GHz, a dedicated Adreno 205 graphics processing unit and a mighty 1 GB RAM. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, 4inch capacitive touch screen and full PlayStation Portable controls.

Although google’s latest Android Operating System the 2.4 Gingerbread is out but sadly the Xperia Play features the older 2.3 version. Just hope that company includes the 2.4 when they start shipping.

The official date of shipping is to be announced but the good news in that this device will start shipping by the end of March 2011. Price of the device is expected to be around Rs 30,000, however the company is yet to make any official announcement regarding that.
